The “Living Well After Cancer Day” is a workshop for those living with cancer, those who have survived cancer and their family and friends. This is an MCCR initiative – free with lunch included.
Most people say cancer is a life-changing experience which prompts them to reconsider their outlook on life. This may include a new focus on healthy living.
This workshop aims to provide information to help you prepare for life after a cancer diagnosis.
PROGRAM
10am: Morning tea and welcome
10.30am “Nutrition After Cancer”
Gemma Cooper – Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD)
Gemma has 9 years experience as a practising Dietitian working in the NSW and Canberra Health Services. Gemma aims to improve people’s understanding of food, nutrition and health using evidence-based information. She is also a passionate “foodie” and loves cooking and experimenting in the kitchen
11.30am “Exercise and reducing the risk of recurrence”.
Amber Arazny – Ambition Exercise Physiology
Amber is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP, AES, ESSAM) who assesses, plans and implements exercise programs for preventing and managing chronic illnesses such as cancer. This assists in restoring optimal physical function, health and wellness.
12.30pm: Lunch
1pm “Coping with the fear of cancer recurrence”.
Andreea Ardeleanu – a2counselling
Andreea is a Social Work Counsellor (BSW, MHlthSci – Sexual Health counselling, AASW – Mental Health Accredited Social Worker). She helps the individual to identify and explore distress and empowers the individual with tools and techniques to assists in navigating through life’s challenges, such as cancer.
2pm “Laughter Yoga”
Sue McPhie – Snowgum Yoga & Meditation
Sue is a Level 2 Yoga Teacher with a Diploma of Teaching & Guiding meditation. She is a member of Yoga Australia and a Member of Meditation Association of Australia.
The benefits of Laughter Yoga are: Boosting the immune system, Regulating blood flow, Increasing oxygen to the brain and body cells, Decreasing anxiety and depression, Providing pain relief and Managing stress.
“In practising Laughter Yoga, you learn to be less stressed and more playful. You learn to look on the brighter, lighter side of life – even when facing challenges”.

You are very welcome to bring a support person on the day – either a family member or friend.
There will be a bus leaving from Cooma on the day (approx.. 9am, time to be confirmed). Location for departure will be central in Cooma- to be confirmed. The bus will make 1 stop in Berridale if required, arriving at Rydges Jindabyne at 10am. The bus will return to Cooma after the workshop concludes.
