mcCr Garden Party for 2022 was held on 30th October in the stunning garden of Libby and Jim Litchfield, Hazeldean. In 1994 Jim and Libby Litchfield moved to Hazeldean and undertook extensive additions including creating two courtyards at the rear of the house and adding cross axis pear walks. In 2013 the decision was made to alter the front garden layout – a big decision given the history and age of the old garden. With the help of Leigh Prentice, a retired Sydney architect, two lawn terraces were planned with a retaining wall and steps from basalt quarried from Hazeldean. The terraces enable better use of the lawns and help to retain moisture during dry times. Plants removed from the gardens were replanted into large beds to the east of the house. A terrace was constructed outside the dining room which has made a lovely area for lunch under the shade of the elm on hot summer days as well as in winter. In 2018 another storey was added to the house using plans drawn up by Prof Wilkinson in 1964.

Once again the mcCr committee would like to thank the businesses that donated to the event and our generous community for again supporting us in our attempt to make the lives of cancer sufferers a little easier.
